Meditation: Come What May

You just never know what might happen when you embark upon a meditative journey.

Such was the case for me last evening as I dragged myself up to my meditation studio thinking I’d do an easy music meditation.

After a physically intensive weekend, moving the house around to create the studio space, I really just wanted a nice quiet end to the day, and could not have been less prepared for what was to come….

The music I chose was a new CD called Journey Home. As I sat and the music began it made me smile, so I thought, great, I am going to have a Ketut like meditation, smiling even in my liver :)   And then the music took hold, gripped deep within my heart as I kept pace with my breath and the words “I dedicate this practise to you Allan and Amy” came, as did the tears.

I ended up having the most intense emotional grief meditation I have had to date, and it could not have been more beautiful. From Allan and Amy came a slide show of all those I have loved and lost in this lifetime, and I did indeed come back to smiling, even in my liver :)

This is the beauty of non-attachment. Not being attached to outcomes can result in something truly magical happening. And thus is the case with meditation. Sometimes we struggle, trying to quiet our monkey minds and just watch the thoughts float by, and other times, when we truly open our hearts and minds, step out side our comfort zones, the extraordinary happens. We just never really know when that will be, and the surprise of it makes it all that much more special.

Breathe, open your shoulders, open your heart, and smile….even in your liver :)

Namaste,

PJ xo
